Empty Shop in Durham, UK is all about being completely unfunded, & totally independent. The Empty Shop HQ launch event was this past Friday, 19/02/10, and I was able to attend! It was a fantastic successful, every room was filled with people looking at the different artworks and socializing. The cocktails were generous, as Empty Shop had both red and white wine, as well as tall boys of Carlsberg & Strongbow; every drink with a different price of your own donation. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the house, which was recently refurbished to suit Empty Shop’s Headquarters, viewing the work. What’s even more interesting is that I will be returning to Empty Shop tomorrow afternoon with one my of classes. Field Trip!
